Tolino from Germany recently launched three new e-readers: Shine, Shine Color and Vision Color. If you are a Kobo reader user, you should find them quite familiar. That's right, because Kobo acquired the Tolino e-reading platform in 2017, and the hardware of readers launched by Tolino since 2019 are all supplied by Kobo, so the mold is the same as Kobo's recent models, but the Kobo model is based on Linux The closed system of Tolino is an open Android system. This situation may change with the new models released by Tolino this time. It is reported that its system has also been designed by Kobo and changed back to a closed system using Linux.

Tolino Shine Color is equipped with a 6-inch E INK Carta 1300 and Kaleido 3 color e-paper screen, supporting FastGLR and dark mode. The reader has a black and white resolution of 1448×1072 (300 PPI) and a color resolution of 150 PPI. In addition, it has a smartLight frontlight system to adjust brightness and color temperature, which can effectively reduce blue light. Shine Color is powered by MediaTek MT8113T dual-core processor, equipped with 1GB RAM and 32GB storage space, and supports IPX8 waterproof rating.

The Shine model offers the same size black and white E INK Carta 1300 screen, which also supports dark mode and a high-definition resolution of 300 PPI. Its hardware configuration is lower, including MediaTek MT8113L processor, 512MB of RAM and 16GB of storage space.

It is equipped with manual page turning keys for convenient one-handed operation, and has the same smart light headlight system . One of the great advantages of the Tolino brand is that users can choose to cooperate with multiple bookstores and synchronize previously purchased audiobooks or e-books through the Tolino Cloud (each user will have 25GB of free cloud space). The new product supports the purchase of books from bookstores such as Thalia, Weltbild, Bucher, and Hugendubel, and is compatible with downloading books from various public libraries.

These new products will be available in June 2024 and are currently on public display, but are not yet open for pre-order. If there is further news later, we will report it to you again.
